I’ve always wondered about the healthfulness of air fresheners. I was reading an article the other day called 15 Every Day Things That Increase Your Cancer Risk and guess what was #1? Yep!
So I thought…I KNOW I can come up with something natural that will hopefully help a little. And that’s where we got this diy air freshener.
DIY AIR FRESHENER
This one is super simple.
1/4 cup of salt
1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers
3 drops of lavender essential oil
Mix together in a glass bowl or jar and place around the house. You can multiply this recipe easily and then place in multiple locations around the house. And the more you use the stronger the smell. so think about the size of the room you’re trying to add it to and how much you will need to use.
It’s super important to use glass containers for this though. Essential oils can break down plastics.
Bonus Tip – Be sure to use a wide topped container (while the Goodwill find sake cup in the picture is super cute, it doesn’t have the surface area needed to allow the nice smell to escape) that gives it more surface area to create more smell. Also just add another drop of lavender oil when it starts to wane.
